Orange County, known as The O.C. to shorten it, is associated with wealth, enough that a whole T.V. show was devoted to it in the early 2000s.
Many large towns comprise the county bordering Los Angeles to the southeast, including Anaheim, Santa Ana and Irvine. However, the smaller and more upscale enclaves like Newport Beach (median home value $2.5 million) help cement the county’s fame for being home to the most affluent and well-known.
The median cost of a home in Orange County sits at $1.1 million, per the Cost of Living Index. It is the fifth most expensive market in the nation. But at $2,564 per month, the rent for an apartment is less than half of that of the national average.
Surprisingly, utilities are approximately 77% less expensive within Orange County, while healthcare is only 3percent higher in comparison to those in the U.S. average.
